Score 87/100 · Stephen Tanzer, Vinous, May 2005

Medium red, with some development. Slightly roasted aromas of brambly strawberry, cinnamon and smoke. Fat and sweet on entry, then a bit minty in the middle palate, with modest breadth and grip. Showing less acidity than the Garys ' Vineyard offering. This should have been released earlier-and perhaps harvested earlier as well. Miura is the " Burgundy arm" of the joint venture between Master Sommelier Emmanuel Kemiji and Byron Kosuge, formerly winemaker for Saintsbury; Antiquus is their single-vineyard syrah and Almus their Bordeaux blend.
