Tasting notes
The 2022 Chardonnay Elusive Queen is youthfully understated as wet stones and chamomile give way to freshly sliced green apples. This displays silken textures offset by mineral-laced orchard fruits and hints of lemon zest. It tapers off with youthful tension and gentle tannins, leaving a citrusy concentration and an herbal thrust. The 2022 Elusive Queen is still quite embryonic yet poised for a gorgeous evolution. (EG)

Full bottle 1,356 g. Unfined and unfiltered. 99 cases produced. Pale lemon in colour. Less overtly ripe on the nose than The Wild Bee, more driven by a wet-stone minerality, crushed gravel and white blossom. The palate, however, is more intense and riper. Weighty, honeyed, long. Plenty of fresh acid to hold it for the long haul. I'd give this a few years. (SCJ)
