Tasting notes
Dark red cherry, plums, crushed rocks, spices and menthol are all laced together in the 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon Weitz Vineyard. Pliant, creamy and layered in the glass, the 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon Weitz Vineyard possesses gorgeous radiance and texture. Sweet floral and spice notes add lift on the finish. This is a terrific debut from Mark Carter. Weitz is one of the most intriguing vineyards in Oakville. Needless to say, it will be interesting to see how things develop over the coming years.

(this fruit was picked at 27.3 degrees Brix and the wine finished with a brisk 6.9 grams per liter of acidity): Bright medium ruby. Musky red and black fruits, tar and Belgian chocolate on the nose. Sweet and lush on entry, then plush in the middle but without quite the cut or definition of the Coliseum Block example, which is from an adjacent vineyard. Finishes with supple but firm tannins, excellent breadth and a lingering note of coffee.
