Tasting notes
The 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer To Kalon Vineyard The Three Kings is forward and charming, with full-bodied aromas and flavors of cassis, ripe blue fruits, flowers, and baking spices. Perfectly balanced and elegant, with ripe, integrated tannins, it's another flawlessly put-together 2014 from this team. It's drinking brilliantly today due to its purity and balance and will be drinking brilliantly in another decade or more as well.

There are 248 cases of Carter’s 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer To Kalon The Three Kings, made from clone 7 from that first-growth vineyard in Oakville. This is a supple-textured, blockbuster wine, with notes of Asian spice, licorice, espresso bean, chocolate and oodles of blackberry and cassis fruit. It is fleshy and succulent on the attack and midpalate, very concentrated with velvety tannin and a long, 45+-second finish. This is a beauty and should provide sumptuous consumption for at least another 20 years.
The 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer To Kalon Vineyard The Three Kings is dark, rich and unctuous. Sweet spice, menthol, licorice and dried flowers are some of the signatures in The Three Kings. This is the most open-knit and voluptuous of the Carter To Kalon Cabernets. Next to the bigger wines, the Three Kings is a bit light in structure.
