Tasting notes
The 2016 Fuerza is a relatively new cuvée for this estate and it's 100% Petit Verdot brought up in small barrels. It's tough to do this cuvée on its own, but this estate does an incredible job with the variety. Inky colored, deep, dense, backward, and concentrated, with classic notes of black fruits, charcoal, graphite and tobacco, it benefits from the supple, sexy nature of the 2016 vintage and has ample baby fat to buffer this puppy’s structure. You can drink it today with food, but who knows when it will reach maturity.

The 2016 Fuerza, 100% Petit Verdot, is super-concentrated and powerful, but it is also dominated by tannin and lacking in fruit. It will be interesting to see if the 2016 ever comes together fully. I have my doubts it will.
The 2016 Fuerza, 100% Petit Verdot, is powerful, wild, and not surprisingly, very tannic. Today, the Fuerza comes across as a bit out of place in this range. Petit Verdot on its own is an animal. Jonata's version is also done with 100% whole clusters. It will be interesting to see what the coming year brings during aging.
