The 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon Old Vine probably comes from the oldest vines first planted by the Long Family on Pritchard more than 30 years ago. The wine has a dense purple color, an extra gear and level of concentration, plenty of blackcurrant and blackberry fruit intermixed with spring flowers and spice. Rich, multidimensional, full-bodied and impressive, this is a brilliant 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon to drink over the next 20+ years.

Powerful, deep, and explosive, the 2014 is a total head-turner. Inky red and purplish fruit, spice, mint, leather, espresso and tobacco give the wine much of its layered, sumptuous personality. Like all of the 2014s here, the Old Vine is tightly wound. Still, the wine's pedigree is evident. The addition of 12% Petit Verdot that was not in the blend at this time last year, has really ratcheted up the intensity. This is one of the most impressive wines I have tasted from David Arthur in some time.

David Arthur's 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon Estate Old Vine is deep and intense today. Much richer than the 2013 tasted alongside it, the 2014 exudes mid-palate plushness. Today, the Old Vine is naturally quite primary, but it is shaping up to be a real jewel of a wine. This is an unusually voluptuous, resonant 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon with a bright future. The energy of the vintage is matched pound for pound by the sheer generosity of the fruit.
