Tasting notes
Medium ruby-purple, the 2017 Pinot Noir Frei Road Vineyard opens with touches of gunflint and woodsmoke, segueing to earth, underbrush, bergamot and lilacs with a core of blackberry fruit. The medium-bodied palate opens slowly to floral-tinged flavor layers. It's silky and juicy in the mouth, calling you in for another sip. This will benefit from another two to three years in bottle.

Gorgeous kirsch, toasted spices, scorched earth, forest floor, and a touch of redcurrants all emerge from the 2017 Pinot Noir Frei Road Vineyard. Coming from a site on the Sonoma Coast and all destemmed and aged 18 months in French oak (33% new), it's medium to full-bodied and has a rounded, expansive texture, plenty of structure, and a great finish. It's a beautiful, mouthfilling, layered effort from this team that will keep for at least a decade.
Super-ripe red cherry, kirsch pomegranate, mint, blood orange, kirsch and exotic spice all run through the 2017 Pinot Noir Frei Road. Sumptuous, bold and flamboyant, the Frei Road is decidedly extroverted in every way. Soft curves and voluptuous fruit add to its exuberant personality. The Frei Road Pinot is not all subtle, but this fruit feels so well-suited to Matt Courtney's style.
