Tasting notes
The 2015 HG III is an attractive entry-level wine from Hourglass. This Merlot-based red is supple and forward, both of which make it an excellent choice for drinking now and over the next few years, while the red berry fruit remains fresh.

Moving to the 2015s, which were tasted out of bottle, the 2015 HG III is a classic second wine that’s made from Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot, and includes a touch of purchased grapes. It offers a ripe sexy style as well as lots of plum and blackberry fruit, spice, incense and floral aromatics. It’s a total charmer I’d happily drink over the coming 10-15 years.
Medium to deep garnet-purple colored, the 2015 Proprietary Red Hourglass H. G. III (a Merlot-heavy blend) has lovely spiced plums and kirsch scents with underlying notes of vanilla pod, chocolate and cinnamon stick. Medium to full-bodied, it gives appealing, pure black fruit flavors, with soft and plush tannins paving the long, spicy finish.
