The 2014 Zinfandel Cedarman remains one of the most distinctive wines in the Turley range, as well as a fabulous value. Sweet plum, kirsch, wild flowers, mint, rose petals and silky, polished tannins are all very much in evidence. Another Howell Mountain cuvée, the 2014 Zinfandel Cedarman (15.65% alcohol) is broodingly dark, with rich, briary blackberry and blueberry fruit, full-bodied opulence, not the riveting complexity of the Rattlesnake Ridge, but still impressive, multilayered, pure and ripe. It contains a small amount of Petite Syrah. Drink it over the next 7-8 years.

The 2014 Zinfandel Cedarman is a blend of fruit from Turley's Dragon and Rattlesnake vineyards, with dollops of Rattlesnake Petite Sirah added to the blend. Inky dark fruit, crème de cassis, lavender, mint and spices flesh out in a wine endowed with real character and class to burn. I can't think of too many wines - from anywhere in the world - that deliver this level of quality for $29 a bottle. The Turley lineup is full of gorgeous wines, but the Cedarman is a personal favorite for its quality, value and breeding,
