Tasting notes
Bright purple. Sexy aromas of cassis, candied licorice, cracked pepper and toasty oak, along with notes of allspice and mocha. Sweet, pliant and penetrating, offering intense dark berry and floral pastille flavors that put on weight with air. Dense but lithe cabernet, finishing with excellent clarity and thrust.

The 2009 Cabernet Sauvignon Bugay Vineyard emerges from volcanic soils on a ridge that lies between Knights Valley and the Russian River. Mint, flowers, sweet dried herbs, tobacco and plums flow from this rugged mountain Cabernet. The 2009 boasts tremendous energy and vibrancy. The aromas and flavor build effortlessly to the long refined finish. This understated, pure Cabernet is all class and elegance. The 15% Petit Verdot in the blend adds personality.

Anticipated maturity: 2014-2024. Arnot-Roberts is one of the most exciting young wineries in California, or anywhere for that matter. Duncan Arnot Meyers and Nathan Lee Roberts have put together a compelling set of wines that highlight the personalities of some of the cooler-climate sites in Northern California. Most of the wines are made with a high percentage of whole clusters. Vinification takes place with native yeasts and bacteria, and the wines are bottled without fining or filtration. The latest addition to the lineup is a Cabernet Sauvignon from Fellom Ranch, a vineyard on the Montebello Ridge in the Santa Cruz mountains not too far from the parcels from which Ridge crafts their iconic Montebello.
