Tasting notes
The 2007 Cabernet Sauvignon Bugay Vineyard comes from a high elevation (1,400 feet), volcanic ridge in Sonoma County’s Mayacamas Mountains. A blend of 85% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Cabernet Franc and 5% Petit Verdot, it possesses a dense ruby/purple color along with lots of burning ember, soil, black currant, licorice, cedar and herb notes. A distinctive terroir character is obvious in this medium to full-bodied, backward, restrained Cabernet. It should be even better after 3-4 more years of bottle age and drink well for 15+ years. Tel. (includes 7.5% each of petit verdot and cabernet franc) Glass-staining ruby. Spicy blackcurrant and cherry preserve aromas are complicated by cracked pepper and a sexy floral quality. Silky, sweet and focused, with concentrated, energetic dark berry preserve and bitter cherry flavors, gentle tannins and an intensely spicy character. This vibrant, pure wine finishes with excellent clarity and nervy persistence.
