Score 92-94/100 · Drink 2005-2017, Pierre Rovani, Jun 2004
Harvested at 13.6% natural potential alcohol, Dureuil’s parcel of Nuits-St.-Georges Les Argillieres yielded 33 hectoliters per hectare in 2002. It explodes from the glass, unleashing powerful aromas of black cherry syrup and thyme. Hugely concentrated yet harmonious, this big, broad, expressive wine is crammed with dense layers of viscous, tar-laced black fruits and fresh herbs. Completely seamless, there isn’t a hint of hardness or an edge to be found in its sumptuous character. Its exceptionally long finish reveals loads of exquisitely ripe tannin immersed in syrupy cherries. Anticipated maturity: 2005-2017. Wow!
