Tasting notes
Inky blue and purplish fruit, spice, licorice and chocolate are all pushed forward in the 2015 Petite Sirah Drummond's Cuvée. This is an especially inky, unctuous Petite with good overall balance and potential, if not quite the pedigree of the finest wines in this range. The Drummond's Cuvée is a blend of fruit from Eaglepoint Ranch, in Mendocino, and Palisades, the well-known site in Napa Valley. (AG)

A barrel sample of the 2015 Petite Sirah Drummond’s Cuvée comes primarily from Mendocino’s Eaglepoint Ranch, which used to make up Sean Thackrey’s Sirius Syrah. This massive, rich, concentrated Petite Sirah is a 50-year wine. Black as a moonless night, it displays notes of graphite, incense, camphor, blueberry and blackberry liqueur. It is still in barrel, but it’s a monster. More on this once it’s in bottle next year.
