Score 91/100 · Drink 2006-2014, Robert Parker, Dec 2006

The outstanding 2003 Merlot Vintner’s Select Mountaintop Vineyard exhibits a dense ruby/purple color in addition to a generous nose of toffee, berry fruit, espresso roast, and toasty oak, supple tannin, and a lush, opulent, fruity, complex style. It should drink well for 7-8 years. Previously recommended: 2002 Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve (96+), 2002 Reserve Claret (97+). Tel. (707) 963-4949; Fax (707) 963-6039

(routinely made from Pride's "Mountain-Top Vineyard" block) Good red-ruby. Captivating high-toned, liqueur-like aromas of cherry and chocolate. Sweet to the point of unctuous, with concentrated, expressive red fruit and chocolate flavors of impressive depth. Finishes very long and sweet, with big but lush tannins.
