One of the gems in the lineup as well as in the vintage is the 2015 Bossman. Made from a mix of Syrah, Grenache, Viognier, and Petite Sirah aged 25 months in 60% new oak, its vivid ruby/purple color is followed by a huge perfume of blueberries, bacon fat, black olives, and smoked herbs. It’s deep, full-bodied, layered, and multi-dimensional on the palate, with no hard edges and a sensational finish. Hats off to winemaker Matthias Pippig for this awesome Santa Barbara County blend!

The 2015 Bossman is a Syrah, Grenache, Viognier and Petite Sirah blend. In 2015, Bossman is deep and yet also wonderfully translucent in its expression. Whole clusters lift the dark plum, sage, spice and floral notes effortlessly. Time in the glass brings out the wine's more delicate side, something Mattias Pippig's wines haven't always shown.

The 2015 Syrah Bossman is a ripe, pleasure-bent wine that was one of my favorites among this lineup from Sanguis. The wine wafts from the glass with heady aromas of kirsch, fruit liqueur, spice, raw cocoa, dried flowers (there's some Viognier in the blend) and tar. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied, expansive and velvety, with a generous core of sun-kissed fruit and light tannins that gently assert themselves on the finish.
