Coffinet's 1989s are remarkably rich and complex. Not surprisingly, Coffinet's 1989 Batard-Montrachet is a riveting example of a great white burgundy. The huge nose of bacon fat, ripe apple and pineapple fruit, as well as aromas of toast and minerals, is followed by a wine with sensational concentration, staggering depth and length, and a Montrachet-like feel in the mouth. Drink this dazzling white burgundy over the next 10-12 years. Importer: Martine's Wines, San Rafael, CA.
