The 2018 Johann Georg Old Vine Single Vineyard Shiraz begins with a splay of red berries, poached blood plums and salted licorice, all of it backed by spicy, resinous, charry oak. The tannins in the mouth flow to all corners and serve to prop up the fruit, without impeding its course over the tongue. The finish is long, bringing pleasure now, but promising a long life ahead of it into the future. Super smart wine here.
