The 2019 Chardonnay Lucky Well Vineyard is a new label/vineyard-designate wine for Maxem, coming from a site in Sonoma Coast AVA, located just five miles from the coast. These Wente Clone vines were planted in 2000. Tasted as a barrel sample, the nose opens with super intense notions of pink grapefruit, green guava and lemon tart, plus hints of sea spray, jasmine and yuzu zest. Medium to full-bodied, it explodes in the mouth with citrus and tropical layers with a silken texture and a taut, crisp line of freshness, finishing long and mineral-laced. 220 cases are due to be made.
