Score 91/100 · Drink 2016-2036, Robert Parker, Jun 2012

Still slightly austere, but displaying promising potential, this 2002 Cabernet Sauvignon from Diamond Mountain offers up subtle notes of creme de cassis, loamy soil, tobacco leaf and spring flowers that intensify as the wine aerates. It is medium-bodied with a structural profile similar to a Bordeaux Medoc, good tannin, excellent fruit and an elegant as well as authoritatively flavored personality. This youthful 2002 should be forgotten for another 4-5 years and drunk over the following two decades. Tel. (800) 877-3623 (Schramsberg)
