Tasting notes
The 2022 Pinot Noir Manchester Ridge Vineyard Tout is a grippy wine, the tannins intense from the extreme mountain site that's fully exposed to the Pacific Ocean. There’s an edginess to the wine, with a portion of whole-cluster fermented grapes that add to the feral nature and delicate feel that underlies. Earth, forest, and green tea accent the medium-bodied layers. Drink now through 2030.

The 2022 Pinot Noir Manchester Ridge Vineyard Tout is entirely 115 clone, vinified with 100% whole clusters and aged entirely in neutral French oak. Coastal inflections lead the charge—oyster shell, seaweed and sea salt—all lifted by high-toned rose petal nuances and bright, velvety pomegranate fruit. This is so elegant and textural. The stems work incredibly well to melt the site's formidable tannins into the fabric of the wine. The Tout is an outright success.
Pouring a deeper magenta/red color, the 2022 Pinot Noir Manchester Ridge Vineyard is from the highest vineyard in the Mendocino Ridge AVA, at 2000 feet elevation, overlooking the Pacific Ocean. It’s aromatic of refreshing alpine herbs, sappy earth, pine, black cherries, violets, and crushed floral perfume. It has great sapidity and mid-palate richness without being heavy and retains wonderful purity. It has a long finish and is going to show well over the coming 15 years.
