Tasting notes
The 2016 Chardonnay Little Hill Estate, tasted from magnum, is in a gorgeous spot right now. Apricot, lemon confit, marzipan, white flowers, tangerine oil and a kiss of floral-infused honey all grace this super-expressive, viscous Chardonnay. From magnum, the 2016 is still vibrant and wonderfully alive.

This is the first release of a Chardonnay under this Little Hill label. The 2016 Chardonnay Little Hill reveals beautiful spice and floral notes of ginger, coriander seed, orange blossoms and honeysuckle with a core of guava, pineapple and apple pie plus a waft of brioche. Medium to full-bodied, the palate possesses great freshness with bags of tropical fruit flavors and a racy backbone delivering a long finish.
The 2016 Chardonnay Little Hill is a new wine in this range. Curiously, the Little Hill emerges from the oldest vines on the property, but this is the first vintage Rochioli has bottled the Little Hill as a vineyard designate. Previously the fruit went to David Ramey. Layers of candied lemon peel, tangerine, vanillin and sweet spice build in the glass. This is a quintessential expression of Russian River Chardonnay. Don’t miss it!
