Score 95/100 · Drink 2016-2026, Robert Parker, Mar 2016

The 2014 Zinfandels are richer and fuller. The 2014 Zinfandel Lolita Ranch (16.4%) displays fabulous fruit, loads of plum, Asian soy, black cherry, forest floor and smoked barbecued meats. The great fruit, extraordinary ripeness and full-bodied power should translate into at least a decade of drinking pleasure.

Dark red cherry, inky bluish fruits, mocha, dark spice and leather are all pushed into the foreground in the 2014 Zinfandel Lolita Ranch. Succulent and forward, with lovely palate intensity, the 2014 offers plenty of near and medium-term appeal. Here, too, the wine is quite bold, with an elevated perception of alcohol, yet all the elements are well put together within this style of Zinfandel.

Martinelli

Martinelli is a Sonoma benchmark for vineyard-designate bottlings—wines built to highlight how strongly a single site can shape Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Syrah, and Zinfandel. Across the range, the focus stays consistent: small-production bottlings that feel distinctly tied to where they’re grown.
