Score 93/100 · Drink 2017-2032, Antonio Galloni, Vinous, Jan 2015

The 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon Clajeux Vineyard is intriguing. Freshly cut flowers, lavender, mint, plums, smoke and savory herbs are some of the notes that open up in the glass. Iron, ferrous and gamy overtones follow in a wine with distinctly Old World feel. There is a slight element of brett that sits on the border of what most tasters are likely to find acceptable. At this point, the brett actually adds complexity and contributes to the wine's Old World-leaning personality, but it is hard to know how the wine will develop. There is no shortage of personality and character, that much is evident.
