Score 89/100 · Drink 2022-2028, Antonio Galloni, Vinous, Jan 2022

The 2020 Pinot Noir Peter Martin Ray Vineyard is dark, brooding and gamy. This is an especially virile expression of this Santa Cruz Mountains site. Black cherry, gravel, game, brown spice, leather and earthy notes abound. Firm, muscular tannins add an impression of rustic, deep intensity. This is a pretty potent wine, with a lot of whole cluster character running through it.
