Tasting notes
Blackberry jam, lavender, cloves and menthol jump from the glass in the 2011 Petit Petite Sirah Kick Ranch. An absolutely joyous, delicious wine, the 2011 offers tons of Petite intensity and pure fruit, but with soft contours and tons of pure appeal. This is another terrific showing from Behrens. The intensity of the fruit is simply captivating. Best of all, the Petite is the real hidden value in this range.

(16.1% alcohol; blended with 8% cabernet sauvignon): Bright, full ruby. Initially a bit medicinal, nutty and funky on the nose but cleared up nicely with aeration to reveal scents of blueberry and smoky oak. Very sweet flavors of candied black raspberry, blackberry liqueur and violet display good detail and relief thanks to surprisingly healthy acidity. Lovely juicy wine with good cut and firm tannins. And remarkably polite for a 16% bruiser.
