The 2013 La Carte et Le Territoire (Merlot/Cabernet Franc) is soft, supple and inviting, with lovely aromatic top notes from the Franc that add nuance. Espresso, savory herbs, leather, tobacco and dark-fleshed fruits blossom as this ample, voluptuous Right Bank-inspired red shows off its personality. This is another 2013 that appears to be going through a period of post-bottling dormancy.
The 2013 La Carte et Le Territoire boasts superb mid-palate depth and density, but it also isn't fully put together yet. In particular, the 2013 comes across as raw and unevolved, with the Cabernet Franc very much buried by the sheer intensity of the fruit. If taken on its own terms, the 2013 is quite attractive, but at the same time, it is evident the wine is only showing a portion of its true potential.
The 2013 Merlot/Cabernet Franc La Carte et Le Territoire reveals lots of forest notes, unsmoked cigar tobacco, lavender, mulberry and blueberry fruit.
