Tasting notes
The 2015 Compagni Portis Heritage White, Bedrock's white field blend, is powerful, rich and intense, as so many wines are in this vintage, with exotic overtones from the aromatic varieties and striking textural richness. Orchard fruit, jasmine and a host of more tropically leaning notes add the closing shades of nuance. This site planted in 1953 yields whites of real pedigree and class.

Another intriguing white is the 2015 Compagni Portis Heritage Proprietary White. This is from a dry-farmed field blend of Gewürztraminer Trousseau Gris, Riesling and a few others planted in 1954. The exotic fireworks of Gewürztraminer are obviously on display in the wine, but then the other grapes seem to pull it back down to earth. However, the perfume is still sensational with incredible caramelized honeyed melons and assorted citrus and tropical fruits. The wine is medium to full-bodied, has a good bit of viscosity and texture, yet finishes dry. The bottom line is that this is outrageously delicious, and that is really all anyone should ever care about. Drink it over the next several years.
