The 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon comes from a rocky site in the foothills of the Vaca Mountains, not far from the Pine Ridge winery. This wine displays excellent ripeness, some underbrush, tobacco leaf, black and red currant fruit, a touch of oak and sweet tannin in an attractive, elegant, medium-bodied style. Drink it over the next 10-15 years.

A wine of pedigree and distinction, the 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon Stags Leap District has turned out as well as I had hoped. Creamy and expressive, with striking depth, the 2013 possesses notable nuance in its dark, inky flavors. Sweet floral and spice notes add layers of aromatic complexity throughout.
A powerful wine with incisive tannins and fabulous overall balance, the 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon Stags Leap District is quite beautiful. There is plenty of Stags Leap character in the inky blue/purplish fruit. Smoke, tobacco, incense and mint overtones add layers of nuance. The tannins are going to need a few years to soften, but there is a lot to look forward to in a wine that captures all the intricacies of this site.
The 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon is slightly denser and pure than the 2012 with blackberry and blackcurrant fruit, incense, charcoal and camphor notes. Full-bodied, voluptuous and rich with an intensity of flavor and density that even eclipse the gorgeous 2012, it should drink well for 15-20 years. Not yet released
