Tasting notes
Lindstrom's 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon Stags Leap District is a powerful, intense wine. Scorched earth, smoke, tobacco, licorice and plums are all laced together nicely in this soft, plush Stags Leap Cabernet Sauvignon. Dark spices, menthol and leather add nuance on the finish. There may be just a little too much new oak for the wine's mid-weight structure, but then again, the 2012 was just bottled.

The 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon offers attractive sweet cassis and tobacco leaf aromas intermixed with notions of licorice and loamy soil. Sexy, medium to full-bodied, opulent and pure, it can be drunk now or cellared for another 15-20 years.
The 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon bursts from the glass with layers of fruit and exotic, intense aromatics. Hints of white pepper, orange peel, blueberry jam and licorice all add further nuance. The 2012 is racy, intense and opulent from start to finish. It will be interesting to see if the wine settles down a bit over the next year. Today both the fruit and the tannins are incredibly vivid in their intensity
Far more impressive is the 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon. A barrel sample looks much more exuberant, offering a wonderful display of creme de cassis, creamy oak, cedarwood, baking spices and unsmoked, high quality cigar tobacco. This full-bodied, opulent, richly fruity 2012 should drink well for 15+ years. Tel. (949) 300-4559
