A multiple-vineyard blend from the Russian River, the 2012 Pinot Noir Russian River displays a deep ruby/plum color as well as sweet black cherry, earth and floral notes, medium to full body, a pure texture, and fine overall balance. It can be drunk young or cellared for 7-8+ years.

(from a mix of Dijon clones): Vivid ruby-red. Pungent dark berries and smoky minerals on the nose, with notes of licorice and cherry pit emerging with air. Broad and fleshy on entry, then tighter in the middle, offering bitter cherry and rose pastille flavors and a spine of tangy acidity that serves to intensify the wine. Finishes on a smoky note, with good length and building tannins. Bill Hunter described his 2012 pinots as "less approachable" (and the 2013s as more approachable) but I'd have no problem enjoying this wine in its youth.
