The 2020 Geyserville is another solid effort in this incredibly challenging vintage. Red and black fruits, scorched earth, and candied violet notes emerge on the nose, and it's medium-bodied, has a round, supple texture, some firmer tannins, and a good finish. I think there's a touch of smoke here, yet it’s well managed and certainly the wine delivers pleasure, and the tannins are nicely integrated as well. While many of these wines fall outside the “Central Coast,” I was able to taste a full lineup from Ridge and am happy to include these wines here. Going forward, the Sonoma releases will be covered by my colleague, Audrey Frick.

69% Zinfandel, 20% Carignane, 8% Petite Syrah, 2% Alicante Bouschet, 1% Mataro. Plummy, ripe and fresh. Super-smooth texture. Milk chocolate, a few drops of liquorice. There's a little herby character on the dry, moderately long finish. (RH)

The 2020 Geyserville is quite soft in this vintage. Bright red-fleshed fruit, crushed flowers, cedar, spice and sweet pipe tobacco all grace this mid-weight edition of Geyserville. All things considered, the 2020 is nicely done.
