Score 92/100 · Drink 2011-2017, Robert Parker, Feb 2011

The 2008 Pinot Noir Lolita Ranch’s medium garnet/ruby hue is followed by a big, sweet kiss of wild strawberries, forest floor and earth. This medium to full-bodied, sexy, seductive Pinot possesses adequate acids, sweet tannins and loads of fruit. It should drink nicely for 5-6 years or longer. The venerable Martinelli winery, one of the iconic families and longtime growers in Sonoma, has turned out another impressive group of wines. Tel. (707) 525-0570; Fax (707) 525-9463

Deep red. Aromas of red berries, licorice and mocha, with a hint of musky underbrush. Juicy, youthfully bitter cherry and redcurrant flavors are framed by chewy tannins and gain sweetness with air. Tight but gently sweet on the finish, which echoes the bitter cherry note and clings nicely. Give this some air.

Martinelli

Martinelli is a Sonoma benchmark for vineyard-designate bottlings—wines built to highlight how strongly a single site can shape Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Syrah, and Zinfandel. Across the range, the focus stays consistent: small-production bottlings that feel distinctly tied to where they’re grown.
