Tasting notes
Inky ruby. Potent, expansive aromas of ripe black/blue fruits, fruitcake, succulent herbs and woodsmoke, plus baking spice and vanilla notes in the background. Appealingly sweet, seamless and creamy on entry, then more taut in the midpalate, offering sappy blueberry, cherry-vanilla, dark chocolate and spice-cake flavors that are given focus and spine by a core of juicy acidity. Finishes spicy, energetic and very long, with sharp focus and gentle tannic grip. This is quite an impressive showing for this variety from outside Spain.

A variety that’s getting more and more traction in Paso Robles, the 2018 Tempranillo from Booker offers a more ruby/plum color as well as a savory, spicy bouquet of cured meats, blackcurrants, loamy earth, spice, and chocolate. Rich, medium to full-bodied, concentrated, and with well-managed tannins, this singular, meaty, spicy Tempranillo should evolve for 15 years or more.
