The Merlot-based 2016 Front Man is very pretty and nuanced, with a good bit of savory aromatics to play off the dense, dark fruit. Cedar, sweet tobacco, grilled herbs and plum meld into the plush, sensual finish.

The 2016 Merlot Front Man is blended of 90% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon. Deep purple-black in color, it gives understated scents of plum preserves, dried mulberries and black cherry compote plus underlying hints of wild sage and cloves. Full-bodied, concentrated and giving plenty of juicy black flavors on the palate, it has approachable, rounded tannins and good length.
