Tasting notes
Good bright medium red. Wild aromas of black raspberry and gibier, lifted by a rose petal topnote. Large-scaled, fat and supple, with a smoky, earthy complexity to the sweet raspberry and strawberry flavors. Finishes with very suave tannins and captivating lingering sweetness. This is wonderfully expressive already.

The 2010 Charmes-Chambertin is deep, plush and totally inviting. Sweet floral notes meld into layers of expressive red fruit in this sexy, compelling Burgundy. Clean, mineral notes frame the highly attractive finish. This is a striking wine from Frederic Magnien.Anticipated maturity: 2020-2030. (Not yet released) Importer: Skurnik Wines, Syosset, NY; tel. Nose is in hiding. Fruit is showing well on the palate, full of ripeness but with a biting sloe and juniper character too. Very promising. Broods on the palate. (RH)
(an 80/20 blend of Mazoyeres and Charmes; Magnien has 16 barrels of this juice): Good dark red. Wild, meaty, very ripe nose. Silky, fat and sweet but a bit youthfully disjointed today, with strong mineral and pepper character currently giving the red fruit flavors a slight hard edge. Finishes quite long, but this will need time to knit.
