The 2012 Charmes Chambertin includes fruit from both Mazoyères and Charmes-Chambertin. It has a floral bouquet that comes out of the blocks racing: pomegranate and cranberry scents, good delineation and focus. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins, very well-judged acidity and fine precision toward the finish that needs just a touch more persistence. Nevertheless, this remains a fine Charmes-Chambertin that should age well over the next decade.

Good bright red. Complex nose melds cherry, rose petal, leather, game and minerals, plus a whiff of sexy new oak. Tightly wound but with lovely sweetness to its red fruit and rose petal flavors. A silky texture is given cut and energy by harmonious ripe acidity. Finishes saline and long, with very suave tannins. A lovely Charmes, from the lieu-dit Aux Charmes in Charmes and the upper part of Mazoyeres just below Latricieres, according to Magnien.
