Tasting notes
Bright ruby. Aromas of dark berries, coffee and chocolatey oak. Intense but rather clenched, with the dark berry and espresso flavors currently showing an oaky side. Finishes with substantial wood-powered tannins that turned a bit dry with aeration. In an awkward phase today.

Lovers of Syrah’s beef blood character should check out the 2002 Syrah Thompson Vineyard. Aromas of creme de cassis, melted licorice, barbeque spices, roasted meat juices, and subtle herbs soar from the glass of this dense, full-bodied, multidimensional Syrah. Rich with low acidity, beautifully balanced and pure (characteristics of all the Ojai offerings), it can be drunk young or cellared for 10-15 years. One cannot say enough about the commitment to excellence exhibited year after year by Adam Tolmach. (Release date 9/05) Tel. (805) 649-1674
