Tasting notes
Lots of dried rose-petal and currant character follows through to a full body, chewy tannins and a fresh finish. A little austere now, but this will soften and show more beauty by 2020.

The 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon Branding Iron Oakville is from an Oakville vineyard. Notes of Christmas fruitcake, sweet black cherry and cassis fruit, some licorice and spice box are all present in this dense purple-colored wine. It is full-bodied, impressively endowed, with moderately high tannin. This wine will benefit from another 2-4 years of cellaring and should drink well for another 20-25 years.
Nickel & Nickel's 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon Branding Iron offers good immediacy and juiciness. Ripe dark cherry, plum, licorice, smoke and menthol blossom nicely in the glass. There is good mid-palate creaminess and density, although some of that persistence tapers off on the finish, where the wine feels a bit more compact.
