Cherry, redcurrant, lavender, mint and a whiff of high-toned oak on the nose. Sweet on entry, then quite tight in the middle, with the red fruit flavors currently cut off by firm tannins. This will need at least a couple years of patience.

Deep red. Reduced nose suggests raspberry, currant and mocha. Dense and ripe but a bit dry and reduced, with a more masculine tannic structure. A flavor of maraschino cherry turns a bit medicinal on the back. For service with red meat, suggests Clavelier, adding that the first two wines would go well with white meats or crustaceans.

Scented, sweet, racy. Energy there but not quite enough finesse. Lip smacking. (JR)
