Always the most lifted of the Paul Lato wines, the 2015 Pinot Noir Duende Gold Coast Vineyard is aromatic, perfumed and gracious in feel. Hints of earthiness, game, smoke and autumn leaves give the wine a slightly sauvage feel in 2015, but there is also lovely purity to the bright red berry fruit.

Pale ruby-purple in color, the 2015 Pinot Noir Goldcoast Vineyard Duende has a gorgeous anise, red rose and sage-laced perfume over a core of ripe red cherries, wild strawberries and underbrush. Medium-bodied, soft, silky and seductive, this has beautiful, soft-spoken expression and wonderful length.
The 2015 Pinot Noir Duende Gold Coast Vineyard from Paul was completely destemmed and spent 15 months in 50% new French oak. It's an ethereally textured, lightly colored, finesse-driven effort that comes from 27-year-old vines and the old Martini clone of Pinot Noir. It offers sensational notes of rose petals, strawberries, cherries, mint and sappy herbs. Medium-bodied, lightly textured, yet with tension, purity and verve, give bottes a year or two of bottle age and enjoy over the following decade. Paul Lato is unquestionably one of my favorite winemakers in the Central Coast, and I continue to love his wines. While I found 2015 to be a difficult vintage, you wouldn’t know it by tasting through this lineup.
