A good value, the 2014 Chianti Classico is made from 90% Sangiovese, 5% Merlot, and the rest Colorino. It's a supple, elegant, medium-bodied effort that has plenty of upfront red fruits, spice, and dried flowers. It’s a charmer geared for near-term drinking.

Castelnuovo Berardenga. 95% Sangiovese, 5% Canaiolo. Just mid ruby with orange tinges. Sweet, peppery, subdued nose and ripe and simple fruit on the palate of great length. (WS)

Borgo Scopeto's Sangiovese-based 2014 Chianti Classico is a lean and slightly prickly red wine with aromas of green herb, tart berry and bitter almond. This wine is zesty and thin. It delivers sharp acidity and moderate textural intensity. This base Chianti Classico is earthy and rustic in personality.
