Score 85/100 · Drink 2014-2017, Antonio Galloni, Vinous, May 2014

Colleoni's 2009 Brunello di Montalcino is laced with sweet tobacco, crushed flowers, mint, leather and dried cherries. The mid-weight structure is typical of the Pelagrilli district, but the color and intensity are both lacking. The 2009 has lost depth since I tasted it from barrel last year, so there is little to make me think the wine is going to improve from here. If anything, the volatile acidity in both bottles I tasted is distracting.
