Tasting notes
This incorporates some of what little nobly rotten fruit there was in each of the Diels’ three top sites and was assembled, explains Caroline Diel, in response to demand. Scents and luscious palate presence of white peach and nectarine, glazed pineapple and candied lemon rind are mouthwateringly laced with marine mineral salts but also marzipan, flowery honey and nougat, yet the combination of confectionary and savory mineral elements is not in the least discordant. This finishes with levity, refreshment and colorful sheer persistence. (I tasted from a screw-called 375 ml. bottle, a format that reflects a significant share of this wine’s production.)

Sourced from the three VDP Grosse Lage vineyards Pittermännchen, Goldloch and Burgberg the 2015 Dorsheimer Riesling Auslese displays a rich, ripe apple and quince bouquet on the honeyed nose. This leads to a rich, juicy and stimulatingly piquant palate with excellent length.
Blend of three Grosse Gewächse in screw-capped halves – to encourage people to open this sort of wine. New wine! Very tense. (JR)
