Score 93/100 · Drink 2015-2030, Robert Parker, Jun 2015

The 2005 Cabernet Sauvignon Estate, which is 90% Cabernet Sauvignon and 10% Petit Verdot (585 cases), was aged 24 months in 100% new Taransaud barrels. This is a younger, fresher, less complex style of wine, with loads of loamy soil as well as some volcanic/charcoal/ember-like notes that are vaguely reminiscent of a top Graves from Bordeaux. It is opaque purple, opulent, medium to full-bodied, rich and very satisfying, but again, not as complex as its sibling, the 2005 Proprietary Red. Drink it over the next 15 or so years.

(includes 11% petit verdot) Good deep ruby-red. Subdued aromas of cassis, black raspberry, licorice and minerals. Rounder and larger-scaled than the proprietary blend but less filled in and intensely flavored; displaying less personality today. Shows a cooler aspect too. Finishes with substantial fine tannins and a fairly dry impression.

Good deep ruby. Aromas of black raspberry, plum, loam and dark chocolate. Lush and broad but still in a rather dry style, with complicating notes of herbs, truffle, loam and minerals. Distinctly cleaner than the 2004, with more successfully integrated acidity. Broadens out nicely on the back end, finishing with fairly fine tannins. A property to watch.
