The NV (2019) Extra-Brut Cramant Chemin de Chalons emerges from a parcel on the Avize side of Cramant. Powerful and quite broad, the 2019 dazzles with its richness, concentration and finesse. Baked apple tart, spice and tangerine oil soar across the palate. There's gorgeous exoticism and exuberance here. This is Chardonnay dialed up to the maximum. Dosage is 1.2 grams per liter. Disgorged: February 16, 2026.

Selosse’s NV Blanc de Blancs Cramant Chemin de Châlons, based on the 2017 vintage and disgorged in January 2024 with one gram per liter dosage, introduced my tasting through the lieux-dits of Jacques Selosse. Derived from a south-facing site in Cramant, near the border of Avize, it’s a historical vineyard of the domaine, planted around 1938 and a source for the estate’s massal selection. Leaping from the glass with aromas of toasted nuts, spices and candied lemon peel, it is followed by a muscular yet chalky palate. It’s more ample and less taut than Les Carelles in Le Mesnil, sharing more stylistic similarities with Les Chantereines in Avize. As with all the single-vineyard expressions, it’s complemented by the perpetual reserve component, which in the case of Chemin de Chalons dates back to 2002.
