The 2012 Chambolle Musigny les Amoureuses 1er Cru seems to have closed down after bottling. This is very contained at the moment with broody mulberry and raspberry aromas emerging. The palate is medium-bodied with crisp tensile tannins, a drop of balsamic tincturing the detailed black fruit with fine delineation on the finish. This has great potential, although it needs a decade in bottle.

Bright medium red. Slightly high-toned aromas of raspberry, minerals, smoke and spicy oak. Then tight on the palate, with raspberry, saline and sexy underbrush flavors given punch by pungent minerality. Savory, powerful, very long wine with a serious tannic backbone that will need several years in the cellar to resolve. But will it ever display the class of the best examples of Amoureuses?
Good deep red-ruby. Purple fruits, violet and crushed rock on the nose. At once dense and lively, with noteworthy mineral energy to its raspberry, smoke and bittersweet chocolate flavors. Seamless in texture but not thick. Best today on the rising back end, which features very refined tannins and lingering raspberry and mineral notes. Landanger's holding touches Musigny.
