(15% alcohol) Medium red-ruby. Blackberry, cassis, smoke, licorice and loam on the nose, along with a light nutty component. Dark and brooding, with a porty aspect to the black fruit, licorice and smoke flavors. Very concentrated wine but lacks real thrust and finishes with rather tough tannins. Not my style.

The 2006 is slightly more earthy, the tannins more pronounced, and the wine a bit smokier, without the 2005's admirable integration of the considerable tannin, but both are outstanding Cabernets, and probably the two best wines I have yet tasted from this small producer.
