Tasting notes
More in the line of the Burgundian styled 2017 than the powerhouse 2018, the 2019 Pinot Noir Platt Vineyard reveals a vivid ruby hue to go with a gorgeous perfume of red and black fruits, scorched earth, violets, wood smoke, and assorted foresty, meaty, bouquet garni-like nuances that develop with time in the glass. With beautiful elegance, ultra-fine tannins, and flawless balance as well as a kiss of background oak, it's a heavenly Sonoma Coast beauty to drink over the coming decade. It reminds me of a top 2018 Grand Cru Burgundy and is the finest vintage for this cuvée to date.

The 2019 Pinot Noir Platt Vineyard once again shows just how distinctive this site is. Striking in its depth and texture, the Platt offers superb mid-palate raciness allied to energy. While it doesn’t have the exuberance of the 2018 today, the 2019 is the sort of wine that is so suggestive as to what the future might hold. I would cellar the Platt for at least a few years. My impression is that the 2019 is showing just a bit of its potential at this stage. Sadly, there are just two barrels to go around.
