Tasting notes
Deep garnet in color, the 2007 Family Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon is redolent of crème de cassis, preserved plums, Christmas cake and blackberry pie with hints of Indian spices, incense and camphor. Medium to full-bodied, the palate is packed with spiced black fruit preserves flavors, supported by a firm frame of rounded tannins and great freshness, finishing with epic length.

Very pretty ripe blackberry and blueberry character. Full yet round and compacted. Velvety tannins and delicious fruit. Lots going on, but subtle and stylish. Pull the cork after 2013. 14+23+23+33. Find the wine
The 2007 Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve is a classic Venge wine. Still closed and tight compared to most 2007s, it displays loads of toasty new oak, but behind the oak are copious quantities of black currant fruit, cedar wood, spice, and his tell-tale purity and texture. This is a full-bodied wine that will benefit from 5-6 years of cellaring and, given his track record, keep 20-25 or more years. (Price not yet determined) Long-time veteran winemaker Nils Venge continues to turn out an enticing group of essentially unoaked or minimally oaked white wines from Saddleback that emphasize their varietal character. They are delicious to drink from the get-go and are very food-friendly. Moreover, they offer considerable value. Tel. (707) 944-1305; Fax (707) 944-1325
