Tasting notes
The 2002 Pinot Noir Reserve has a wonderfully sweet nose of kirsch liqueur and currants intermixed with some minerality and spicy oak. The wine is medium to full-bodied, ripe, and offers good, generous levels of glycerin and fruit and a long, heady finish. Drink it over the next 5-6 years. Tel. (707) 525-0570; Fax (707) 525-9463

Good ruby-red. Wild raspberry, strawberry, spices and nutty oak on the nose. Intensely flavored and stuffed with fruit. Firm acids accentuate the impression of dryness. Firm, pure pinot with good spine. Vintage 2003 was the last crop for these vines, as houses are now being built on this site.
The 2002 Pinot Noir Martinelli Vineyard Reserve’s dark ruby/purple color is followed by a big, sweet perfume of ripe pomegranates intermixed with cherries, plums, raspberries, smoke, underbrush, and minerals. With good acidity, a big, powerful palate, and a long finish with no hard edges, it should drink well for 7-8 years. (Release date Fall 04) Tel. (707) 525-0570; Fax (707) 525-0570
About the producer

Martinelli is a Sonoma benchmark for vineyard-designate bottlings—wines built to highlight how strongly a single site can shape Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Syrah, and Zinfandel. Across the range, the focus stays consistent: small-production bottlings that feel distinctly tied to where they’re grown.
